Contact & Frequently Asked Questions
If your question isn’t answered below, please email Lori: hello@proverbs1312retreats.com
Who leads the retreat sessions?
All retreat sessions are led by Lori.
Will this retreat include one-on-one counseling?
No. These retreats are educational in nature and provide evidence-based healing tools developed in collaboration with a licensed trauma therapist. They are not a substitute for individual counseling.
Is Lori a licensed therapist?
Lori is not a licensed therapist, but all retreat materials have been developed in collaboration with and approved by a licensed trauma therapist.
When I register for a retreat, do I have to pay the balance all at once or can I make payments?
Either option is available. Payment plans are welcome, but the remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 30 days before your scheduled retreat.
If I cannot attend, is my payment refundable?
We understand that unexpected circumstances arise. Refunds are available up to 30 days before your retreat. Within 30 days, refunds cannot be guaranteed. If we are able to fill your spot from our waitlist, your payment will be refunded. Because this depends on availability, refunds within 30 days cannot be promised.
Are these retreats confidential?
Name tags will include first names only. Beyond that, you are free to share as much or as little of your personal story as you feel comfortable. We ask all attendees to respect one another's privacy and keep personal information shared during the retreat confidential.
Will I be forced to share my personal story?
Absolutely not. The teaching sessions are designed for learning rather than group sharing. If you choose to talk with other attendees outside of session times, that is entirely your decision.
Are all eight sessions required?
Attendance is not mandatory, but you will benefit most by participating in all eight sessions and completing the accompanying workbook.
If I live locally, do I have to stay at the retreat house?
No, but it is highly recommended. Setting aside a few uninterrupted days away from everyday responsibilities allows you to fully engage in the retreat experience. We believe you'll receive the greatest benefit by remaining on-site throughout the retreat.
I will be traveling to Destin for the retreat. Which airport should I fly into?
The closest airport is Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), located approximately 35 minutes from the retreat house. Other nearby options include Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP), about 1 hour and 10 minutes away, and Pensacola International Airport (PNS), approximately 1 hour and 25 minutes away.
What should I bring?
Please bring comfortable clothing for three days, toiletries, a journal, a pen, and a highlighter. Optional items include a swimsuit and a beach/pool towel.
Will I have any free time?
Yes! There are several breaks built into the schedule so you can rest, reflect, enjoy the pool or beach, journal, or simply recharge. Sometimes a nap or a quiet walk by the water is part of the healing process.
Am I able to use the pool or go to the beach?
Absolutely! Please bring your own beach/pool towel.
Is there a dress code?
Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.
I read that all meals are catered. What if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Please email hello@proverbs1312retreats.com before your retreat, and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Can I bring drinks or snacks with me?
Absolutely. You're welcome to bring any additional snacks or beverages you'd like. A Keurig coffee maker and complimentary coffee pods will also be available throughout your stay.
Are alcoholic beverages acceptable? What about smoking and vaping?
To create a safe and supportive environment for everyone, alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted during the retreat. If you smoke or vape, please do so off the property. If you have a medical marijuana card or take prescribed controlled medications, please contact Lori before your retreat so we can discuss any questions.
I have limited mobility or am unable to use stairs. What should I do?
Please contact Lori before registering. The retreat home does not have an elevator, but we can reserve a first-floor bedroom for you.
Are service animals allowed?
Unfortunately, no. The retreat house has a strict no-animals policy, so we are unable to accommodate service animals, emotional support animals, or pets. We understand this may be disappointing for some guests and sincerely appreciate your understanding.
Are these retreats faith-based?
Yes. Prayer and scripture are woven throughout the retreat experience. While we respect people from all backgrounds, these retreats are distinctly Christian and are designed for women who desire to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
I am experiencing physical abuse in my marriage. Is this retreat right for me?
These retreats are not intended to provide crisis intervention or safety planning for situations involving physical violence. If you are experiencing physical abuse or fear for your safety, we encourage you to seek immediate assistance from a local domestic violence program or the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Your safety — and the safety of your children, if applicable — must always come first.
